Altura really is all about the food. There are no crystal chandeliers or picturesque views here, just a remarkable lineup of expertly crafted, innovative courses that are served by attentive and friendly professionals. If you desire a more immersive dining experience, there is the chef’s table where you can watch the chefs at work. The menu changes frequently and is not à la carte, so there is little value in recommending certain dishes. Every course in the tasting menu was excellent and some were downright divine. The starter of smoked sturgeon zabaglione and salsify topped with Kaluga caviar will long be remembered as one of the tastiest things I’ve eaten. Another highlight was the Wagyu ribeye, which was super tender and full of beefy flavor. They nailed every dish from appetizers to desserts and everything in between, including the grilled octopus, Iberico pork and steelhead trout, so much so that their tasting menu is a veritable tour de force of culinary techniques and mastery of ingredients, flavors and textures. Not only did the food excel at every turn, but there is great attention to detail with the presentation as well. Altura’s cuisine is a celebration of gastronomy and this place is a gem in the Seattle dining scene. We went there to celebrate a milestone birthday and they were so nice to plate up the dessert courses with a candle and birthday message. They were also very accommodating with my mussel allergy and made me a nice vegetarian substitution instead. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Altura and are planning to check out their sister restaurant across the street, Carrello.

My sister and I were fortunate enough to find this place and get reservations for her birthday dinner. The tasting menu was truly an experience. Opting for the Chef’s Counter doubled as a bit of entertainment while we saw up-close the preparations for each course. It is a LOT of food, but spaced out and perfectly accompanied with (in our case) stellar mocktails.

Amazing 3.5 hours experience with creative finger foods and dishes, friendly and passionate service, and a small but cozy environment. We booked the Christmas Eve dinner, which featured a special 10-course menu, including truffles, priced at 225 tax and a 20% tip (calculated after tax). We also added the A5 Omi Wagyu Ribeye (30/oz). Some courses were on the heavier side, but the dessert and soup served in between provided a thoughtful refresh for the guests. I especially loved the finger foods; they were creative and had complex layers of flavor, featuring ingredients like squash, beets, parsnip, and truffles. Various Italian wine options were available. While we opted for individual glasses of wine instead of the pairing, our server, John, was incredibly patient and let us taste his recommendations before we made our selections. They also took note of the dairy restriction and carefully prepared alternative ingredients, which we truly appreciated. However, one suggestion for improvement: although we understood it was a set menu, no one came to speak with us after we were seated. Instead, we were only handed the drink menu. We sat awkwardly for about 25 minutes before the first course and welcome drink were served. Overall, I’m excited to visit again and hope the regular menu will be just as exciting!

My husband and I have been dining at Altura for about 8 years now and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the staff are friendly. We always try to sit at the bar where you can watch the chefs cook and ask questions about the food. When celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a fabulous meal Altura is our go-to. Worth every penny!

I was excited to visit Altura, and it did not disappoint. They don’t try to be pretentious with their decor or atmosphere; instead, it’s a relaxed space where you can enjoy exquisite cuisine. Every dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. Watching the chefs prepare the food added to the overall experience, making it even more enjoyable. The chef truly created art, crafting unique flavors that go beyond the usual combinations of ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Wow! We had such an amazing experience at Altura for my friend’s birthday! Everyone was so friendly! They explained the menu as each course came out, as well as the drink pairings that went along with each course. The food was top notch. Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I will dream about coming back. I’m sad I didn’t get to take more pictures of the eloquently put together plates but I was just too excited to dig in and enjoy them. I look forward to coming back and trying the next menu!

We had reservations for a Saturday at 5pm. We were running late 15-20 minutes, we called them to let them know and they were very accommodating. We picked seats at the bar to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen and it was a great experience! It is a set menu and roughly 2.5-3 hours experience but highly recommend! They do email you asking about any dietary restrictions prior to your arrival. They were very accommodating and made sure to exclude or provide alternatives when I arrived for dinner. I forgot to mention I don’t do mushrooms, I have never liked mushrooms and have given it a fair shot at every restaurant I’ve gone to in different cuisines, but I could never do it. One of the dishes they had was a ricotta filled pasta with golden chanterelle mushrooms and I ended up eating ALL of it. I couldn’t believe it, it ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the night. However, the winner for me was the tomato dish, they made a tomato sorbet with blue din tuna and prepped tomatoes a few other ways… it is to die for! Our chef, Keaton, was so wonderful and personable and answered all of the questions we had and even gave us a sample of some of the sauces they preserved in-house. Overall, one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Seattle and will definitely be going back!

We had such an incredible time at Altura! The food was excellent and original. Rare flavor combinations and creativity, delicious and beautiful. The wine pairing was really interesting and different. It was great to try wines you wouldn't easily find. And the staff! Everyone was absolutely lovely: Ayla and Alejandro made us feel like we were right at home.
